My husband and I always like to try and do something novel for our wedding anniversary. This year we decided to try a boudoir photo shoot.I have always thought about doing one as a surprise for my husband, but we decided it would be more fun to experience it together.
We started looking locally for a suitable company to perform the shoot. Our search was rather uninspiring and many didn't look very professional and also seemed a bit tacky. When we found Mighty Aphrodite we got a completely different impression. The website is very comprehensive, informative and transparent. There are plenty of example images to give you an idea of what they do, all of which look great and stylish. We booked with confidence, combining it with one of their lovely couples cottages to make a mini holiday out of it!
My husband and I were very excited after booking the shoot. It gave me motivation to look after myself a bit more. Having never done anything like this before, naturally I got nervous on the day of the shoot. However, I can honestly say your nerves will melt away within minutes of meeting Leigh and Zena. They were warm, friendly and very welcoming. We discussed a plan for the two sets I had chosen over a nice cuppa, before going through to the studio where I met the lovely makeup artist Ness. I have never had my hair and make-up done professionally before, it was a very luxurious experience and I was super happy with the soft glam look Ness achieved for me.
The photo shoot itself was a lot of fun and the time just flew by! Leigh is very good at giving you clear direction and guidance on how to pose. I felt very relaxed and confident wearing little to no clothing in front of strangers due to their encouragement and professional manner. My husband also found the shoot fun and felt included in everything, taking a peek at the images momentarily between poses and realising just how difficult it was going to be narrowing down our 10 favourite images out of 150+!
After the shoot I was so pleased that I had gone through with it and it gave me a big boost in how I see myself and my self confidence. We are probably going to go back again for another anniversary! Thank you Leigh, Zena and Ness for an amazing experience!
